Judaism & Kabbalah
with Rabbi Mitch Cohen

Saturday, November 20, 2021
2:00 pm - 5:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time

Learning via Zoom (webinar)
$45 Non-member, $40 ZG member

The workshop will be recorded, registrants will have access to the recording after the event.

Kabbalah is NOT separate and distinct from traditional Jewish practice – it is just a mystical way of interpreting Torah perennial wisdom, expanding Jewish liturgy to the numinous experience and doing practices to embody the Divine Presence.   In fact, one does not have to be Jewish to explore and even practice Kabbalah.  One can apply Kabbalah to support experiencing the presence of G-d in our everyday, every moment lives. This workshop will include interactive discussion and some personal growth and meditation exercises, as well as text study.

Learning Objectives:  Participants will be able to apply Kabbalistic practices learned to their current spiritual practices; will be able to describe how the Four Worlds correspond to idea creation, thinking, feeling and behaving and how to work toward equanimity / acceptance; will be able to use a Hebrew focus mantra for meditation;  will be able to breath in the embodied Yahweh Divine name; will be able to do a Kabbalastic Chant, using a phrase from Psalm 92
The agenda will cover...
  •   Introduction to Jewish Mysticism, Everything is Interconnected
  • Abram / Abraham in Gen 12 and Jacob / Israel in Gen 3; Moses at the burning bush Ex 3; Awakening to the Four Worlds and Spiritual Insights - Increasing our awareness of G-d
  • The Blueprint of the Non-Dual Divinity – How we are created in the image of G-d; Spiritual energies that emanate from our Inner Divine core, and maintaining Balance:  The 10 Sefirot
  • Jewish Meditation and drumming chants; Jewish Traditional and Kabbalistic views of the Afterlife: Circles of Return

"Of all the varieties of Jewish mysticism, Kabbalah is the most fully developed and certainly the most well-known. Most historians agree that it attains maturity as a thirteenth-century Spanish system of theosophy claiming to explain the influence of human action on the inner workings of God. According to Kabbalah, human experience, the unfolding of world history, even the laws of nature themselves, are all manifestations of the divine psyche. . .  Kabbalistic thought reached its zenith a century later with the appearance of what is now known as the zohar. Its author was purported to be none other than the renowed second-century mystic Shimon bar Yohai. Indeed, the faithful even today still believe that. It seems fitting that the authorship of the Zohar should remain mysterious." ~ Lawrence Kushner

Mitch discusses the workshop with the other presenters on The Spirit of Now podcast!
