Meet our Board of Directors

Our functional, hard working Board handles the operations of the nonprofit, and shares their leadership and wisdom to shape our curriculum, pedagogy, events, and all the good stuff.

President: Kristy Aspinwall, LPC
“Ultimately, man should not ask what the meaning of his life is, but rather must recognize that it is he who is asked.” Viktor Frankl
Picture
Kristy is a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice. She comes from a more conservative religious tradition, but now finds inspiration in Humanism and focusing on the positive instincts and abilities we're all capable of. (She's a real Viktor Frankl nut!)  Additionally, she's a powerhouse of energy and great entrepreneurial ideas.

Pam Muller, CSD
"Who looks outside dreams; who looks inside, awakens." Carl Jung
Pam is a Spiritual Director trained at the Haden Institute, and is now a mentor in their Dreamwork program. She was brought up in the Catholic tradition. As an adult, she used the familiar Catholic language and its openness to mysticism to lean deeper into her relationship with the divine where she eventually migrated into an interspiritual, non-dual, contemplative stance on faith. Her spiritual direction practice includes working with individuals and groups. She specializes in Dream Work, including penning, "33 Ways to Work with Your Dreams", and teaching in person, on the radio, and via video.

Ashley Buffington, LPC, CSD
"The sun hears the fields talking about effort and the sun smiles, and whispers to me,
"Why don't the fields just rest, for I am willing to do everything to help them grow?"  Rest, my dears, in prayer."  ~Catherine of Sienna

Ashley Buffington is a licensed therapist, certified spiritual director, and Zeitgeist alumna. She was introduced to spiritual direction 10 years ago and has not turned back.  She went on to complete a two-year program called Contemplative Leaders in Action through Ignatius House Jesuit Retreat Center in 2016 before pursuing her certification. Ashley has a passion for helping people connect more deeply to their spirituality, particularly those struggling with anxiety.

Stacey Atkins, CSD
“I never realized broken glass could shine so brightly.” Henri Nouwen
Stacey has a Master of Theological Studies from Perkins School of Theology and is a Certified Spiritual Director through Zeitgeist Spiritual Direction Training Program. She is currently studying Shamanism through Anam Cara in Inverness, Scotland. She was raised in the Methodist Church and still worships in the Church. She is a believer in inter-spiritual faith and non-dualism. In her spiritual direction practice she works especially well with those who are experiencing a life-threatening illness and their caregivers; however, she works with clients in all areas of spiritual care.

Joella Walker, LMSW, CSD
“When we surrender the need to figure it all out, and cultivate the ability to let it all in, then our earth walk becomes a sacred dance of healing service on the planet.  More than the world needs saving, it needs loving.”  don Oscar Miro-Quesada
Joella is a shamanic practitioner, certified spiritual director, artist, ordained Holy Rascal, and psychotherapist.  She was raised in Methodist and Episcopalian traditions and has studied world religions and spiritual traditions for over a decade.  Joella is an alumna of the first Zeitgeist cohort, and through the program she learned of and now practices the Earth-honoring Pachakuti Mesa Tradition of cross-cultural shamanic arts for personal and planetary renewal.

Rabbi Mitch Cohen
"Spiritual practice is conspiratorial rather than inspirational; it conspires to strip away everything you use to maintain the illusion of certainty, security, and self-identity.  When the eternal and the human are seen as One, that's where love is born -- not through escaping our humanity or trying to disappear into transcendence, but through finding that place where they come into union. " ~ Rami Shapiro

Mitch is a Certified Spiritual Director (ZG alumnus) and Certified Life Coach focusing on grief & loss and difficult mid-life transitions.  He teaches Judaism, Kabbalah, Hatha yoga and the Enneagram. An ordained Rabbi, he served as the spiritual leader of Congregation B'Harim in North Georgia for 18 years. Mitch also facilitates a Survivors of Suicide (SoS) Loss support group, and is an active member of the Carl G. Jung Society of Atlanta.
