Christian
Mysticism
with Carl McColman

Saturday, August 21, 2021
11:00 am - 5:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time

Learning via Zoom (webinar)
$75 Non-member, $60 ZG member

The workshop has been recorded, registrants will have access to the recording after registering below.

Carl McColman is a contemplative writer, speaker, teacher, soul friend, storyteller, and ZG's Contemplative in Residence. Carl is known as an expert in perennial wisdom, and specifically Christian Mysticism, having authored acclaimed books such as The Big Book of Christian Mysticism, Answering the Contemplative Call, An Invitation to Celtic Wisdom and Unteachable Lessons.

Join us to explore the definitions of Christian Mysticism (and why they're so hard to come by!), the history, personalities, and practices of the Christian Mystics throughout the centuries, and how and why they remain relevant today.
"Some people recognize a yearning or a longing in their heart for something they cannot name, something that cannot be put into words. It has something to do with love, with consciousness, with a sense of life’s meaning and purpose. For many people, this clearly has a spiritual dimension — it’s a yearning for God. To people with this sense of yearning or longing, I would say, “You already know in your heart what difference it makes. I don’t need to convince you to care, because you already do.”
Anyone can enter the mysteries, but the mysteries only reveal themselves to those who seek them." ~ Carl McColman

The agenda will cover:
What is Mysticism
  1. How come it's so hard to define?
  2. But let's try anyway!
The Christian Mystic Heritage
  1. Who are our Christian Mystic teachers?
  2. How have they influenced our current theology and practice?
Contemplative/ Centering Prayer & Silence
  1. What should I *do* to cultivate, understand and experience my relationship with Something Bigger?
  2. Show me how to do that!
