​It has been said that life is a like a school — and the point to living a good life is learning the lessons that help us to become happier, more loving, and more wise. But some of life's most important lessons can never be put into words; they can never be "taught" — we can only learn them by living our own lives mindfully and consciously. Spirituality is not a set of problems to solve or a course of study to master: it is an invitation to live your life fully, with awareness and appreciation and a willingness to be present to all that life has to offer.
This is just one of the messages in Unteachable Lessons, the latest book from Atlanta-based author Carl McColman. Carl is a nationally recognized authority on spirituality, mysticism, and contemplative living. In this new book, he skillfully applies the wisdom of the mystics to the ordinary challenges of everyday life: and shows how everything we need to learn life's most precious lessons can already be found in our hearts.

Join Carl at Zeitgeist for an evening that will include a short talk about the themes of the book, time for questions and answers, and a book signing. Light refreshments will be served.

Carl McColman is a contemplative writer, speaker, teacher, soul friend, and storyteller. He is the author of numerous books, including The Big Book of Christian Mysticism, Answering the Contemplative Call, An Invitation to Celtic Wisdom and Unteachable Lessons. His writing appears on numerous websites, including Patheos, the Huffington Post, Day One, and Contemplative Journal. He co-hosts the Encountering Silence podcast with filmmaker Cassidy Hall and theologian Kevin Johnson. Carl lives with his wife near Clarkston, GA.
